1. Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you’ve got about a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies—God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.
—Kurt Vonnegut

2. My hair is getting longer again, and there's the itch to get it freshly cropped, but I don't really see the point while I'm filming, not when every morning I sit in that chair and watch them weave whatever fresh new Victorian plait we'll start the day's work in. I like the physical transformation: the hair, the contact lenses, even the godforsaken corsets do their part in the movie magic, like it says right there on the very trailer we're sat in. But I also just like that soothing stroke of someone's fingers through my hair. I've always been a sucker for it, really. Lay my head in your lap and twist my hair into curls and I'll be hypnotised, putty in your hands, awash with your spell. And moments like that are why I believe in magic.

3. It's been a while since I dropped off some links to make you smile so have a thorough explanation of the benefits of cucumbers, two icons being iconic, 12 Kinds of Kindness, and me just trying my best.

4. On a summer morning
I sat down
on a hillside
to think about God –

a worthy pastime.
Near me, I saw
a single cricket;
it was moving the grains of the hillside

this way and that way.
How great was its energy,
how humble its effort.
Let us hope

it will always be like this,
each of us going on
in our inexplicable ways
building the universe.
—Mary Oliver

5. Things I've said to Siri this weekend:
– Remind me at noon tomorrow to wake up.
– I want to donate to Comic Relief
– Change my name to Queen Honeybee. Please.
– Show me some weird playlists
– Siri, who is the 14th girl on RuPaul's Drag Race?
– Can you make me a list of all my contacts with birthdays in the next month? Is that a thing you can do?

7. And did you get what
you wanted from this life, even so?
I did.
And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself
beloved on the earth.
—Raymond Carver

8. My personal self-care to-do list, which you're free to borrow:
– Take a photo of the things you see that really make you smile. Especially the people. Don't share them online, or do, but most importantly document those moments.
– Bring your scripts to the bath and read them while you soak. Wine optional.
– Make a habit out of pointing out the good things you see your friends do. Tell them they're funny, or smart, or a really great listener, or that their bum looks great in those jeans.
– Find the perfect pair of jeans to accentuate your bum and buy 7 pairs.
– Perfect a recipe to make it your new speciality.
– Actually remember to eat 3 meals a day for Christ's sake.
– Turn off News alerts on your phone for all but your most trusted source. You don't need every reporter's take on every event buzzing in your pocket and keeping your life in a constant state of panic.
– Bless the beautiful Spring weather by spending every moment outside in it that you can.
– Just go visit that friend you miss. Pick a day, make it happen, and go.
– Find a promising looking field to stand in alone and beg the aliens to come abduct you.
